Conspirare – Unity: Songs of Invitation

Listen to the a Conspirare virtual concert of Unity: Songs of Invitation presented over the weekend as a streaming event via YouTube.

Unity invites viewers into a reverie that breaks new ground and elevates the virtual concert space from the familiar grid of squares. Artistic Director Craig Hella Johnson will ground the concert in two selections of Bach, connecting with the organization’s musical roots and including Conspirare favorites “Requiem,” “1000 Beautiful Things,” and Samuel Barber’s iconic “Agnus Dei.” The timely poetry of Joy Harjo, Erika Fine, N. Scott Momaday, and Herman Hesse complete the program. South African Director Andrew Timm and his team have masterfully combined the elements of the artists’ audio and video recordings and will stage them in a virtual 3-D amphitheater design. Timm and his team were influenced by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of using gold to repair cracks in a piece of broken pottery.

The program is available as a PDF document for viewing and/or printing here. If you prefer to watch this video directly on YouTube in another window (or even full-screen), click on this link or “YouTube” on the bottom right in the embedded player below. If you don’t have time for the entire program, you might just watch them perform God Bless America.

Music Calendars

I’m trying to catch up from being dormant last year, so I’m looking over everything and doing some necessary maintenance. These are a few initial changes.

Music Calendars

I updated my Music Calendar pages, as well as the Music menu options. I created  new Music Calendars for Jan 2020 and Feb 2020, as well as an annual index for 2020 and a master index of all music.

Piano Haven Concerts

Also, I updated the Piano Haven Concert Series post so more visitors would get to enjoy this wonderful music. I made it “sticky” so it always appears first (even before my Welcome page), embedded the concert videos inline rather than links to separate tabs, and included links to more music for many of the artists.

Feedback

I would love to hear whether you like these features, and if there is anything else I can do to improve my site. Comments are encouraged here, and I really appreciate the feedback and suggestions. Of course, you can always use the Contact page under the About menu as well. Thanks.

I updated this post so more visitors would get to enjoy this wonderful music. I included links to more music for many of the artists, and included a bookmark link to this post in the sidebar.

Michael Logozar & Louis Landon

I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a Whisperings solo piano concert by Michael Logozar & Louis Landon last night at the Steinway Piano Gallery showroom in Austin, Texas. We were lucky to have a front row seat listening to them play a 9-foot Steinway model D Concert Grand piano. I have attended several house concerts at Michael & Kendra Logozar’s, but this was the first time I had the chance to meet Louis and hear him in person.

Concert Playlist

It was a lovely evening listening to their music, and I thought I would share the concert playlist for you to enjoy as well. They finished the evening with a two-person improvisation based on just 3 notes selected by an audience member. Amazing talent!
