SXSW 2017: Official Teaser Playlist

Listen to over 3 hours of music from a wide variety of showcasing artists who will perform at the 2017 SXSW Music Festival next March 13-19, 2017 in Austin, Texas.

These early confirmations announced today bring a variety of styles – such as indie rock, pop, hip-hop, electronic, Americana, R&B, and soul – from a number of countries, including Germany, Argentina, Australia, the UK, France, Spain, Canada, and the US.

Last year, there were over 2,200 bands from 67 countries that performed here. This list is meant to be just a sample of the lineup for SXSW 2017, with much more to come in October.

SXSWfm is the official internet radio stream of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in Austin, Texas from March 15-20, 2016. This is the second of many specialty shows introducing you to the wide variety of acts who will perform at the 2016 SXSW Music Festival. This is a great way to discover new music.

There is now a Music Preview Guide available for this week’s South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival in Austin, Texas. The Independent Bloggers Guide to SXSW highlights 100 of their favorite bands prepared by over 25 independent music bloggers from over 2000 bands that are here this week.

Just click on the following link on whatever device you would like to install the document.

     SXSW 2015 Music Preview Guide

It is available in two formats – iBooks and PDF. There is an Artist Index which lists clickable artist names alphabetically with the corresponding page number, followed by a page for each artist with artist information, sample track, and related artists.

  • The iBooks version is downloaded when you click on the “iOS” link; the downloaded file can then be loaded into iBooks for either iOS on iPad or Mac OS X (but it is not supported on iPhone). You can click on the arrow button to listen to the sample track, and then flip to the next artist page; you can also use the Artist Index but the font is rather small and too easy to read.
  • The PDF version is downloaded when you click on the link for “Android or other devices”; this PDF document can be viewed but the song links will not be active so you would need to enter the artist’s name on the SXSW Schedule and listen to the track there. You can also just view this PDF on a Mac or PC if you like, but the links will not work.

SXSWfm is the official streaming radio station for South By Southwest (SXSW), reflecting the wide spectrum of sounds you can hear when you attend the SXSW Music Festival which started in 1987 – all kinds of music from all over the world. In 2013, over 2,000 bands from 55 countries performed in Austin. Each week specialty show hosts focus on genres and/or regions such as Americana, electronic dance music, indie rock, and more.
