These are some of the things that I like. I focused primarily on thoughts about my primary interests that also provide a foundation for topics in my blog.
- Listening to music. Learning to play piano. Attending music festivals and concerts.
- Taking, organizing, and sharing photos, and learning more about photography.
- Traveling more. Taking day trips or short getaways. Discovering places nearby.
- Hiking and enjoying nature. Visiting beautiful or interesting places.
- Reading books, visiting web sites, and writing about memories, thoughts and feelings.
- Playing (and watching) golf and tennis, and attending Texas Stars ice hockey games.
- Keeping my diabetes under control, which I have finally done over the past few months.
- Helping others by sharing my knowledge, expertise, and discoveries.
- Learning new things. Trying to get more organized and productive.
- Reading and writing blog posts, getting positive feedback, and making new connections.
This was a helpful exercise. At first, I wasn’t sure what to include, but it gets easier once you get started. It’s beneficial to focus on what you like so you can actually think about it and write it down. Of course, there are many more things I like, but I had decided to limit this to 10 items. Maybe there will other opportunities to identify and list more. For example, these were fairly broad and general, and it might be fun to assemble a list of silly things or interesting observations.
This was the Day 2 assignment “Write a list” for the Blogging U. course Writing 101: Finding Everyday Inspiration, which provides writing prompts to “cultivate a daily writing habit and find inspiration in unexpected places”.
Today we were asked to write our own list on one of these topics: Things I Like, Things I’ve Learned, or Things I Wish”. I thought I would give the first one a try.
I hope you enjoy my blog and follow these daily writing assignments and other posts. Thanks for visiting today.
These could become goals, too. I like that you like having your health steady. That’s so so important to liking other things.
Actually I’m feeling much healthier now than I have in a long time. I’ve lost weight, reduced stress, focused on what I eat, and exercise (almost) daily. It’s made a huge difference and just recently I think I have eliminated all the ups and downs of my blood glucose over the past 9 years with Type 2 diabetes. I just went for 10 days straight not having to take mealtime insulin because my reading was good when I checked it. However, yesterday I celebrated a little bit with a dipped ice cream cone, and broke the streak. But I deserved a reward, and now I’m back on track again.
Consider doing some regular blog posts about this. It’s encouraging.
I have already created a draft about my diabetes progress and plan to publish it soon. It just needs some minor revisions. I also want to highlight some recipes that might be helpful to others, especially since I plan to start cooking more myself to try some I’ve been collecting.
I’m sure you’ve visited diabetes.org for the Mediterranean Diet and recipes. My husband had Metablolic Syndrome, near but not quite diabetes. We like this way of eating and the recipes.
It’s interesting to see the different lists people have made isn’t it? You sound as though you are a thinker/doer, whereas my list is more of a viewer/consumer…I completely forgot to include my blog/technology/TV/music, people…
I know… there’s so much to like!
I think that writing a list of silly things will be very interesting. It will give chance to the child within us to be creative and expressive. Thank you for the idea, I think I am going to do that right away. Really enjoyed reading your post. Good luck with your travel experiences. Travel is a luxury everyone should afford.
Best

Glad you were inspired. You also need more time to travel, and I have that now.
Once I started writing my list, I knew I could get to 100 things so I limited myself to just five things. I wish I had learned to play the piano but never had the opportunity. Nice blog.
Actually I took piano lessons when I was young for several years, but I guess it was the “thing to do” that my parents signed me up for. It didn’t last and I don’t remember anything from it now. However, I have discovered how much I love listening to solo piano so I decided to start learning how to play just recently. Glad you like my blog.
Music is my “thing” too…I can live without tv but not music! 🙂
There’s lots of music on my blog. Hope you like it.
I will definitely be taking a look. I post Music Mondays on mine pretty consistently, most oldies and goodies that I still listen to! 🙂
Glad you are feeling healthy! I shall look forward to your writing 101 posts this month!
