Here’s some indie pop music by Ruby the RabbitFoot from Athens, Georgia.
I recently discovered her while reading Nathan Lankford’s post on the Austin Town Hall blog. She will be appearing at South by Southwest here in Austin.
In a Southern Living article, 10 Southern Bands to Listen to Today, they say “There’s just something about Ruby. The girl radiates lightning bolts, lollipops, cat memes, and sweet tea—on stage and off. She’s a treasure.”

I’m Not Gonna Miss You
Tim McGraw performed I’m Not Gonna Miss You at the 2015 Academy Awards recently. It was an intimate, emotional moment of an honest, touching song that won the Grammy this year as Best Country Song. It was the last song written by Glen Campbell, who has been struggling with Alzheimer’s disease since 2011. It was also nominated for Best Original Song for a film (I’ll Be Me), but he was not able to attend. Here is Tim McGraw’s live performance of Glen’s song.
“I’m Not Gonna Miss You” by Tim McGraw – 2 min 38 sec
See my post I’m Not Gonna Miss You to listen to Glen Campbell’s music, watch the trailer of his film I’ll Be Me, or a CBS documentary about his Goodbye Tour. It also includes Glen’s performance of his song, as well as a tribute performance by his son Shannon Campbell.

Here’s some country music by Slaid Cleaves for you to listen with Spotify.
The music of Austin-based singer/songwriter and guitarist Slaid Cleaves is rooted in country and traditional folk songs. I saw him perform twice at the Cactus Cafe in Austin. The first time his childhood friend Rod Picott opened for him, with whom he has co-written quite a few songs; the other time he performed for the entire evening.
Rod Picott is a singer-songwriter whose music incorporates elements of Americana, alt-country, and folk. I saw him perform twice at Cactus Cafe in Austin opening for his friend Slaid Cleaves the first time, and appearing with Amanda Shires the other time. He will also be playing at SXSW 2015.

Also, I would be interested in any feedback about your experience with listening to Spotify playlists like this. I am considering using this approach for future music roundup posts that might be weekly, monthly, or annual. I might highlight selected songs from specific genres or artists, or perhaps gather songs from the most popular posts. It could also be useful to offer a mix of songs from various artists, such as those performing at the South by Southwest music festival. Let me know what you think.
